Olea Europa "Wilsonii" (Fruitless Olive) (Show 2 Plant Options) from Ellis Farms 760-767-5234 - View all 14 plants
This fruitless variety of olive was discovered in a grove of Manzanillo olives in 1979. The Wilsonii is a clean and well-shaped tree that does not produce fruit and therefore eliminates messy fruit drop. The Wilsonii makes a slow to moderate growth rate, and mature specimens provide a canopy 25 feet high and 25 feet in diameter. These beautiful, dusty green trees are adaptable to a wide range of climates and are hardy to 15 degrees. Thornless, pest free, drought tolerant, and long-lived--the evergreen Wilsonii makes sense for its beauty and practicality.

Orchidaceae Dendrobiinae (Dendrobiums) (Show 1 Plant Options) from PhytoTechnology +92-334-3036927 - View all 3 plants
The species are either epiphytic (growing on a tree), occasionally lithophytic (growing on bare rocks). They have adapted to a wide variety of habitats, from the high altitudes in the Himalayan mountains to lowland tropical forests and even to the dry climate of the Australian desert. The orchids in this genus often develop pseudobulbs, which unite into a long reedlike stem with a typical length of more than 30 cm. Some appear densely covered with short white hairs. The short, ovate leaves grow alternately over the whole length of the stems. The axillary flower buds develop into short flower stalks with one or two terminal flowers. The orchids grow quickly throughout summer, but take a long rest during winter. In the spring, new shoots are formed from the base of the main plant and the dormant buds come back into action. The blooming flowers are found on pseudobulbs formed in the previous year. Reproduction can also occur asexually by keiki.

Orchidaceae Laeliinae (Cattleya) (Show 1 Plant Options) from PhytoTechnology +92-334-3036927 - View all 3 plants
They are widely known for their large, showy flowers, and were used extensively in hybridization for the cut-flower trade until quite recently. This genus and the numerous hybrids come close, through their beauty, to the idealized picture we have of the orchids. The flowers of the hybrids can vary in size from 5 cm to 15 cm or more. They occur in all colors except true blue and black. The typical flower has three rather narrow petals : two are fringed, and the third is the conspicuous lip with a fringed margin and various markings and specks. At the base, the fringed margins are folded into a tube. Each flower stalk originates from a pseudobulb. The number of flowers varies; it can be just one or two, or sometimes up to ten.

Orchidaceae Vandeae (Vanda) (Show 1 Plant Options) from PhytoTechnology +92-334-3036927 - View all 3 plants
These mostly epiphytic, but sometimes lithophytic or terrestrial orchids are distributed in India, Himalaya, SE Asia, Indonesia, the Philippines, New Guinea, southern China and northern Australia. The genus has a monopodial growth habit with leaves that are highly variable according to habitat. Some have flat, typically broad, ovoid leaves (strap-leaves), while others have cylindrical (terete), fleshy leaves and are adapted to dry periods. The stems of these orchids vary considerably in size; there are miniature plants and plants with a length of several meters. There are few to many flattened flowers growing on a lateral inflorescence. Most show a yellow-brown color with brown markings, but they also appear in white, green, orange, red and burgundy shades. The lip has a small spur. Vandas usually bloom every few months and the flowers last for two to three weeks. This genus is one of the five most horticulturally important orchid genera, because it has some of the most magnificent flowers to be found in the entire orchid family. This has contributed much to the work of hybridists producing flowers for the cut flower market. Vanda coerulea is one of the few botanical orchids with blue flowers (actually a very bluish purple), a property much appreciated for producing interspecific and intergeneric hybrids.
